After 15 years serving the PM-305, South Angsi A Field of the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, the FSO Angsi finally shut in its production operations and was decommissioned on the 31 March 2020.
FSO Angsi was converted from a trading tanker, MT Bertina in MMHE Yard and installed at South Angsi A field in early August 2005 for then Talisman Energy. The FSO Angsi was one of MISC Bhd’s earliest offshore projects in Malaysia and was operated by FPSO Ventures Sdn Bhd throughout its operating history.
The FSO Angsi was spread moored at site with twelve mooring chains piled to the seabed of 75 meter depth. She was Bridge-linked via a telescopic 56-75 meter Personnel Transfer Bridge (PTB) to the Mobile Offshore Application Barge (MOAB) which was a full production facility. Stabilized crude oil was loaded into the FSO storage tanks via jumper hose from MOAB to the receiving piping system at the forecastle of FSO.
First Oil was achieved on 14 August 2005. Statistically, 133 Offloading operations took place with a total oil exported amounting to excess of 37 million barrels of crude oil.
Throughout the period, FSO Angsi achieved 100% uptime without any un-scheduled shutdown and total of 8,227,722 Manhours without LTI has been recorded. The Field was taken over by Repsol in 2015. In addition, FPSO Ventures Sdn Bhd took over the operations and maintenance activities of the MOAB on 01 November 2016.
On 31 March 2020, FSO Angsi was released from her twelve mooring chains and successfully towed out from the field to her temporary lay-up berth for cleaning and decontamination activities.
